Hoddesdon III v London Colney Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 26 May 2007 at 1.30pm
London Colney Cricket Club Won by 8 Wickets
This match was played in fading weather conditions, with the latter part of the match played in constant drizzle. The skipper, having won the toss had no second thoughts about inserting Hoddesdon. Their innings never really got started, reaching only 131 all out off 45.1 overs. With Caspari(34)and Hunt(34) being the only batsmen to get going, due mainly to impressive bowling spells by Richy Rouse(4-15),John Gibbons(2-31) and Connor Dow(1-31). Champayne moment was John getting one to turn back up the hill and bowling left-hander round his legs, or at least thats what John told us. Also old bucket hands Rouse holding onto a very difficult catch(for him anyway).
After tea London Colney set about task off the runs, which they did in 24.1 overs. After a very solid start by Adam Buckmaster(66) and Bill Freeman(10),Mitch Bradley(3n/o) and Richy Rouse(25n/o) who after a quiet word from the skipper, deposited the ball to all parts. A mention for one of Hoddesdons bowlers Nafir(2-24) who did not whinge about the conditions and the ball, just stood up and give it a go.
