Graveley I v London Colney Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 11 Aug 2007 at 1.00pm
London Colney Cricket Club Won by 1 wicket

Colney travelled to lowly Graveley knowing only a win would be good enough.

Capt Seymour won the toss and had no hesitation in putting Graveley into bat.
Colney were rewarded in the first over, when Irvine had the opper caught by J Fretter in his legs, having dropped on second ball. This quickly became 22-2 when Irvine bowled Preston.

Connor Dow bowled a great opening spell, before being replaced by John Gibbons. However, Cross and Stockhill took toll on anything loose.

Hadley replaced Irvine and removed both the Cross and Stockhill. He also removed Bailes for 0. Connor came back into the attack and he too was rewarded when he bowled Bracey for 17.

However it was Trev Ray that stole the show when he took the last 4 wickets for just 16 runs.

Graveley were all out for 152 off 37.5 overs, leaving Colney 62 overs to get the runs.

After tea, things started well with Mitch and JD getting good value for shots and going along at nearly 4 runs an over.

Bracey came into the attack and he then bowled 25 overs unchanged.

Mitch finally fell for 16, missing a straight one.
Bill Freeman and Capt Seymour departed cheaply for just 2 and 1 respectively.

JD was going along fine and had reached 40 when he got probably the ball of the match, as it pitched leg stump, seamed and hit off.

Michael Newlands stuck around with Jerry Fretter scoring at 2.5 an over, which was all that was required. However Newlands fell for 6 as he also missed a straight one. Gibbo came to the wicket and 22 runs partnership ensured, until Jerry Fretter's innings came to end, as he attempted to pull a short ball which stopped in the wicket, and he caould only bat it back to the bowler.

Colney were 109-6 off 36 overs which was to become 133-8 when Den Hadley and Trev Ray both fell cheaply.

Young Connor Dow and Gibbo stumbled towards the target with 5 runs off 13 overs. With the score at 146, just 6 runs required, Gibbo was bowled for a well made 30.

Nail biting times as irvine strode to the wicket. However, it was young Connor who clipped the ball throught mid-wicket to bring the scores level and yet another fine shot to see Colney fall across the winning line by just 1 wicket.

a win was recorded, but it was far tighter than it should have been.
