London Colney Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Tewin on Sat 01 May 2010 at 1.00pm
London Colney Cricket Club Won by 1 wicket

Match report In stark contrast to the 1st XI, London Colney 2nd XI got their 2010 campaign off to a winning, if slightly unconvincing start at home to Tewin. Having lost the toss, Colney skipper Adam Stuart saw his bowlers and fielders put in a strong all round performance, dismissing Tewin for just 95 in 42.3 overs. It was the slow bowling duo of Dennis Hadley and Joel Lambrick who did the damage, with Hadley taking 5-40 from 21 overs and Lambrick taking 4-22 from 8.

This left Colney with what appeared to be a relatively straight forward chase, however the run chasing demons which saw Colney IIs fail to reach a number of modest totals last season, returned as the batting line-up foundered and only Lambrick was able to make any impression scoring a composed 27. Wickets fell at regular intervals and when number 11 batsman Mark Edwards walked to the crease, Colney still required 7 runs for victory and Tewin looked favourites to take the points. However Edwards and fellow youngster George Ray guided Colney safely over the line, finishing 5 and 7no respectively and earning their side a nerve jangling 30 points.
