London Colney Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Old Cholmeleians II on Sat 01 Aug 2009 at 1.30pm
Match was Abandoned 15 pts LCCC

Match report A rain affected game. Cholms won the toss and asked the home side to bat first. A traditional slow start for colney which was compounded when T. Ray was given LBW despite a huge edge onto his pads, J. Lambrick quickly followed caught of some good bowling from Marine. This left new bats C. Dow and A. Stuart at the crease, a dissapointing innings from the skipper saw him bowled for 2 (play yourself in should be ringing in his ears). A Colney collapse looked on the cards... P. Seymour marched to the crease with the scoreboard reading 29 from 12 over for the loss of 3 wkts. A determined P. Seymour and C. Dow stuck with it and frustrated the bowling attack and for their rewards put on a tremendous partnership of 163 which broke the clubs 4th wicket partnership before P. Seymour was caught having scored a well earned 61. C. Dow was still at the crease and was looking for his 1st ton for the club and with overs running out he pushed on hard and eventually made 103 not out. This was a fantastic innings from a young and vast improving player, at times C. Dow effortlessley scored runs and it was a real pleasure to watch. LCCC eventually finished on 202 for 5. It was inevitable the rain was going to come and the start of Colms innings the rain had strated to fall, the covers went on and as a result Colms when eventually got to the crease requiring 202 from 42 overs having lost 5 overs to the rain. Cholms were desprate to play throught the rain showers as had zero points as they had stuck the home side in. Credit to LCCC players for sticking with it for 22.3 overs and taking 5 wickets for their efforts. Eventually heavens opened and the match was abandoned. Cholms had scored 100 and lost 5 wickets, it would have been and interesting last few overs but it wasn't to be. The LCCC players commitment and effort could not be faulted and with this continued attitude they will lift themselves clear from relegation. Congratulations Connor on your 1st ton and I am sure there are many more to come!!
